Legacy on Lanier Golf Club 1^st Annual Winter Doubles Match Play Championship

 

Legacy on Lanier Golf Club will be holding our 1st Annual Winter Doubles Match Play Championship from December 1, 2009 through February 27, 2010 on which date the Grand Final will take place with an official club match referee.

 

Who can play?

 

The Winter Championship is open to ladies and gentlemen aged 18 years and above.  Each team will require two players with handicaps.  If you don’t have an official Georgia State Golf Association handicap, we can either help you establish one through GSGA for $30 plus tax per person, or you may submit two scorecards from rounds played at Legacy on Lanier Golf Course and we will calculate your handicap.  If you’re going to enter the tournament, we can offer you a 36-hole ‘handicap voucher’ at a reduced rate of $60+tax.

 

The field is limited to 32 teams so please call the professional shop at 678-318-7861 to register as soon as possible.  We will require names of both players in your team together with email addresses, telephone numbers, and handicaps.  Maximum handicaps are 28 for men and 36 for women.

 

Fees and Format

 

Tournament entry is free, players only need to pay the regular rate when they play which includes greens fee, cart fee, gate fee, range balls and F&B.  The farther you advance in the tournament, the lower your green fee becomes!  The tournament format will be best ball match play with ¾ of handicap differences allocated.  All players will play the hole out themselves and the player with the best net score wins the hole for their team.  This is the same format they play in the foursomes match of the Ryder Cup but with handicaps. 

 

Once the tournament draw is made, you will be required to organize and play your match by a specified date.  The professional shop will provide you with the contact details of your opponents so you may coordinate schedules.  All matches must be played at Legacy on Lanier Golf Course.

1^st Round          To be played by December 31, 2009     Green Fee $54+tax

2^nd Round         To be played by January 21, 2010         Green Fee $44+tax

Quarter Final     To be played by February 7, 2010         Green Fee $36+tax

Semi Final        To be played by February 21, 2010        No Green Fee

Final                 To be played on February 27, 2010        No Green Fee

 

The winning team will receive a trophy to keep and their names will be placed on the winners’ plaque in the Legacy on Lanier Golf Clubhouse. The winning team will also receive a free “Champions Dinner” for four at our Bullfrogs restaurant!

 

Remember, at Legacy on Lanier Golf Club food and beverage is included with your tee time.  So on your match day, come have some breakfast, warm up on the range, then head out for battle on the lake!
